How to make Sabudana Vada

Good food is equals to good mood.

I always want to start our family weekend in a helathy way. It is relaxing and we generally get up late. So most of the time breakfast is special. Because it is family time and everyone is present for the first meal.

Sabudana wada is nothing but the dumpling made up of the mixture of sago, potato and penaut with some spices. In India it is mostly consider as the Fast meal.

It is one of famous street food and traditional fasting dish of Maharashtra. Every person in Maharashtrian family like this dish. Basically it is fritters and taste yummy when served with coconut chutney or curd accompained hot ginger tea.😋

I never keep any fast nor my hubby have it.😉 But this is one of my favorite food. I can have it in breakfast or lunch or in dinner too.

Anything traditional and yummy takes a time to prepare. My key to have yummy homemade food is the meal preparation. I always planned my meal and now with my busy twin baby schedule it is must to have meal plans. Otherwise we ended up in spending money 😐

So what are the Pre-preparation :

1. Soak sabudana at night. Wash it through with normal tap water. And fill it only up to it soak sabudana. It is trick. Make sure water should not come over to the sabudana. The level of water should be soaking the sabudana.

2. Boil potatoes and cool it and keep in fridge. Do not over boil them. Just 3 whistle are enough for my cooker.

3. Roast peanut and remove skin and grind it in mixi jar to make a powder.

4. Grate coconut, peel garlic , wash green chilli and keep ready in a fridge for chutney.

5. If you love to eat with curd then prepare that also. Add 1 tsp curd to 200 ml lukewarm milk and cover it. Keep that at warm place. Next morning you will have homemade thick curd too.

Now you are ready for the next day. Because most of the work has been done.👍🏻In the morning prepare first chutney and then fry sabudana wada.

How to make sabudana vada ?

Ingredients

Sabudana 1 cup

Potatoes 2 large

Peanut powder 1/2 cup

Ginger 1/2 inch

Green Chillies as per taste

Salt as per taste

Coriander 1/4 cup.

Direction

1. Pressure cook potato for 3 whistle or boil in a pan and mash them.

2. Dry roast peanut and crushed them in a powder.

3. Now mix everything mashed potato, crushed peanut powder, green chilli, jeera, chopped coriander, and form a dough.

4. Grease oil in your hand and make small balls from that dough. Press slightly so that it can shape in tikki. Make 10 to 15 tikki at one time only. Keep it ready to fry.

5. Heat oil in a pan. Then drop small portion of the dough to check the oil. If that portion float on a oil it means your oil tempreature is right to fry the vada.

6. Take one vada and slowly add in a hot oil. Let them fry on medium heat. do not touch them. Once they take a firm shape and turns in golden colour then slowly turn them. Fry until it turns in golden yellow. Fry all vadas in the same way.

7. Your sabudana vada is ready.

8. Serve with coconut chutney or curd.

Healthy Version:

Deep fry means lot of calories. 😁 There are other ways to make it healthier.

How ?

1. Use appe pan for frying vada instead of deep fry.

2. You can shallow fry them. As I showed in picture. I always shallow fry my vada.

3. You can use air frier to make this wada.

4. Instead of vada you can make thalipeeth of the same batter and roast it on pan with ghee.

The yummy breakfast recipe is ready in 20 minutes. Right?

Some To Do

1. It is not advisable to eat fry items but once in a month it is okay.

2. It is authentic Maharashtrian recipe.

4. While eating our traditional recipe do not count carb and calorie. Have it in Healthy manner.

Kid approved Indian weekly breakfast

Life keeps on changing. Season come and goes quickly. Ones you start enjoy every season of life you will be the happiest version of yourself. And you will surprised to see how  you evolved through the time.

I remember how calm my life was before my twinee. Me and my daughter used to hang out most of the time. We laughed a lot, roam here and there, enjoyed our scooty drive to school,  errands and had dance session together.😊

Beautiful memories !

New season of my life begin with twins. We do laugh together a lot with them. Play a lot and dance a lot! Only difference is we dance when my babies get frustrated or we need to do some body workout. Moving my body is the need of my present time. And I do try to spend most time with my elder one. (That is the most difficult task -currently😓)
In all these we are missing our meal. After almost 9 months I am able to back on my home shef costume. The most favourite part is I am going to feed my family again with variety of food. It is still difficult for me to cook elaborate breakfast but I am trying out my best. My daughter is a foodie and breakfast is the first meal of the day. I want to make sure that before going to school she have her meal. Am I missing to say, yes, she is having lots of natak😇 too. (Picky eater) We moms do know very well how to feed them, right Mommies !!

So without a further ado let's jump to the post.

Our weekly kid approved Indian breakfast. :

Funny part that our moms never take our approval while making a meal😁 for us. We have to ate whatever she gave us. Do you feel we pampers our kids? Comment below.

From my point of view, sometimes yes, I do pampering. But sometimes only, because it took lots of effort to make our kid eat. 😓

I do not prepare anything special but yes I make her understand the importance of the breakfast and make her eat. My funda is kid learns when they see 😎 so we both eat together always. My babies love to eat with us and I always give them whatever we eat. Yes, they do enjoy our food rather than baby food😉.

This week we have yummy breakfast. Monday is the difficult day for me. I make sure to keep the Monday breakfast simple and her favorite. So that we can  have peaceful Monday morning and then whole week goes smooth.😉

All breakfast can be ready in 15 minutes with little bit of meal planning.

Monday : Paneer Paratha :

A simple breakfast which can made in 15 minutes, only if you have little bit pre-preparation. Knead a dough one day before.

How to prepare it?

Take paneer from the fridge and grate it. Add finely chopped onion and lots of coriander and kasuri methi with some spices ( haldi, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, and salt ). Squeeze half lemon to the mixture and mix it very well. Your stuffing is ready. Make the paneer paratha using this stuffing and roast on hot tawa using lots of butter. Yummy paneer paratha is ready. Serve it with pickle, ketch up or curd.

Tuesday : Rava Upma

Pre-preparation : I always dry roast semolina and put it in a air tight container in the freezer. Yes I store it in a freezer so that it will not have any worms.

Everyone knows the upma recipee. I try to do with variation : sometimes plain, sometime with carrot and peas, sometimes add haldi and tomato. if you want to feed your child granish upma with fried peanuts, bhujiya and tomato ketch up. Kids will finish quickly.

Wednesday :  Omlete Paratha

It is simple everyday breakfast. Whenever there is nothing to make just make the omlete. My daughter love to have plain without onion and spices but I add coarinder to her omelet. I used to keep dough ready at least for 2 days in the fridge. Just take out dough, roll plain paratha and roast it with ghee. Roll the omelette in paratha. Sometimes I apply mayo and ketch up to the paratha and then put omlete and roll it tightly. Yummy for kids😋. This is one of the kids tiffin items too.

Thursday : Puri bhaji

Pre-preparation : Keep boiled potato in fridge and dough is ready.

I made Maharaahtrian style potato bhaji.

How to prepare?

Heat the oil and add crushed garlic with chopped green chillies followed by curry leaves, haldi and coarinder. Add potato and fry at least for 5 second, mix it well. Cover for 5 minutes on low flame, add up grated coconut and cover for 5 seconds. It is ready in 10 minutes. Fry some puri. It is one of the best kids tiffin options too.

Friday : Sabudana Khichadi

Pre preparation : Soak sabudana at night.

Roast peanut on tawa and grind it in mixer to make the crushed powder. Make sure not to make smooth powder. There should be crunch. It is our family favorite.

How to prepare ?

Heat the oil and add up jeera, green chillies and curry leaves. Fry till it change chillies color. Then add sabudana and peanuts mixture with salt and lemon. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. And serve with cold curd. Yummy !

And finally we reach towards the end of week. Weekend are lazy and we do have special breakfast. Sometimes order from the local vendors and sometimes I made. It is totally depends on our twin babies schedule. 😑

What is your favorite breakfast? Do you have this kind of routine? Share your yummy breakfast items.

Chicken and Vegetable Soup for Breastfeeding Mother

Once you deliver a baby and start to feed this tiny human being you have to take care of your diet. At least for the first 8 to 10 weeks after delivery, you must take a lot of liquid diets. Means eat everything in liquid form - Chapati, halva, dal, fenugreek vegetable, kheer, milkshakes, and Chicken and vegetable soup. Basically, you have to drink water and water. Water is the most important factor in our breast milk. The doctor advised having 2 glasses of water before breastfeeding and after breastfeeding. Even if you feel you drink enough water there is always a requirement to consume more.

Doctors and elders in my family also suggested having chicken in your diet. Yes, chicken. If you want to have a speedy recovery from your c- section or normal delivery, you have to consume nutritious food that should be high in protein.

PS : Pixabay.com

Why chicken is necessary for breastfeeding moms?

Chicken is the best protein source and it helps us in our body recovery. We, moms, know how our every muscle and bone tears up while pushing our baby. Chicken helps in tissue repairing and muscle reconstruction. My doctors also suggested me to have chicken in my daily meal, in boiled or soup form.

Does the breastfeeding mother have fry chicken?

No, not at all. You can have chicken in a very mild form without any spices. It should be made in less oil or butter. A breastfeeding mom should have her all food cooked in butter. But when you are lactating you are not supposed to eat any spices which are harmful to the babies. This is as per our elders and yes, I geneually follow that. Because it really helps to have a less gassy and cranky baby.

So please follow your granny, mummy's, an elder's instructions ONLY (apart from doctors). They know better what is good for you and your baby. - As per my personal experience.

I am sharing a nutritious chicken soup. By consuming this soup you will get protein, vitamins, and fiber. I had it during my first child too. This is not my recipe. My bua (my Father's sister's recipe) is suitable for breastfeeding mothers. My mother also had this soup when she was lactating.

Without a further do let's jump into the recipe.

Badam Shake for pregnant and beastfeeding Moms

Hello all,

Hope you are doing well. It’s been a long gap being an active on my blog. I enjoyed my twin motherhood journey but I wanted to get back on my blog too. Nurturing twins without any help is really exhausting. Now we are adjusted to the routine and I wanted to have my “ME” time to upgrade myself. I am ready to brush up my writing skills and eager to read our talented fellow bloggers blog.

Many thanks to Cindy and Blogberry. I was so happy to see your email in my inbox and Mr. Hubby also assures that now I can get back to my writing. Hope I can write well and will not make you bored.

PS : Google

When I become second time Pregnant one of my friend advised me to have Badam Milk Shake – Bacche fair honge ( jokes apart) but I never had it. I don’t like to drink milk, but as a breastfeeding mom I have to drink milk regularly.  Milk is the important diet of lactating mothers. All babies nutrition’s requirement is fulfilled by mother’s milk. Mother need to take a balanced diet and drink milk regularly. I don’t like to drink plain milk so I always try to make it delicious by adding nuts, custard powder and in different kinds of milkshake form. Have you been this through mummas?

 What is BadamMilk Shake?

Badam Milk Shake is a milk blended with almond paste. Almond milk is different and almond milkshake is different. Here we use a milk as a base and add almond paste in it. It is delicious plus nutritious

I used amul’s cow milk. You can use any cow, buffalo, Amul, Gokul, Motherdairy milk. I don’t know how it will go with coconut milk, soyabeen milk etc. I never had these kinds of milk. So Please use regular milk which we are drinking since our childhood.

Can lactating mother eat almonds?

Yes, my gynecologist advised me to have fistful nuts every day. Even pregnant ladies can also have this badam milk shake subject to condition it should be made at home. Frankly speaking I can’t eat soaked or dry nuts daily. I always forget to have it in my diet. My mom, friends advised me how to have nuts in your diet. So I am trying each one’s nuska 😀 and experimenting with milk. My ultimate goal is to have a milk in my diet. 😎
