SCREEN DAY

(Background) Not a whole day

I am proud of it.

...it melts my heart.

HEALTHY DINNER FOR WEEK : MARCH 2024

How are you ? April is started already and how life is going? Steady or with full speed? Mine is going with full speed. Mini vacation are over and school has started. Again we are busy with school, study little bit and toddlers play time.

Healthy dinners are the most important part of our Indian houses. We Indian families have everyday dinner together because it is the time where we meet each other and we talk with each other.

This was the scene of our childhood lives. Many of you agreed with it.

But,

In my house dinner time is where we strictly off the screens whether it is big or small screens and talk over the meal.  Dinner is the special time where we all have meals with discussion and laughter so we did it mindfully.

A healthy dinner has always been my goal. Earlier there was a house help when my baby was small but now we don't have any help. So the goal is to cook food at home and have a meal with the family, which is sometimes very difficult. But with meal planning I managed to cook as much as possible. So that swiggy and Zomato expense will come down. 😁

Anyways, it is possible to cook a variety of healthy food for the family though I am the solo person handling everything. The answer is "Yes" !  Motherhood's hidden talent which we all mothers have. 😎

Last year I shared healthy kids approved an easy breakfast which we actually have for a week. This year I wanted to share a simple and healthy dinner for a week - what we actually eat. We generally eat same kind of meal for the month with little bit of mix and match using shortcuts and meal prep. Goal is to incorporate seasonal vegetables in the diet.

It may inspire you to make a healthy meal at home for a family. Comment down your family meal ideas it will helpful for me.

I am Maharashtrian. Every culture has its own rituals and food eating habits. I wanted to transfer the same good eating habits which we had in our childhood to our kids. I am trying to keep it very simple according to everyone's liking so that making a yummy meal will not feel like a daunting task.

HEALTHY DINNER FOR A WEEK : MARCH 2024

No professional photography, bear that 😇

MONDAY : SIMPLE DAL RICE

Monday is the most difficult day for me. To make it  easy I have a simple meal. We are non vegetarian but eat non veg food only on somedays of the week and not everyday. Sunday was filled with a heavy meal so I prefer to have a simple meal on Monday.  We had Dal, Rice, bhendi and roti. We are Maharashtrian, so rice is mandatory.

Toddlers ate the same dal without tadka with  1 spoon of ghee and rice.

TUESDAY : SIMPLE FRIED RICE SOYBEAN MASALA

With toddler tantrums and endless play time I hardly have time to cook elaborate meals. I blessed to have understanding Hubby and daughter who ate whatever I managed to prepare 😇 My attempt to give healthy and nutritious meal as much as possible and not repeated things.

We had this simple fried rice and soybean gravy. With lots of papad too. But I forgot to take pictures of the papad.

This simple fried rice did not have any veggies because both Mr. Hubby and daughter picked up vegetables and removed it from the plate. So I tried not to add vegetables and keep it simple. With minimum tadka of Mustards, Jeera, onion and basic dry masala.

Whenever I made masala paste for any non veg dish I made it a little bit extra so that  I can prepare at least two three meals from that. Soyabean gravy is one of those masala. The meal took only 30 minutes to prepare.

Toddler ate daliya upma.

WEDNESDAY : FISH CURRY

Fish curry takes only 20 minutes to prepare.  My family loves sea food. And we can eat at any time of the week whenever we carve for that. A simple fish curry with rice is heaven.

The toddler ate a fish piece with a little bit of curry and rice.

THURSDAY : PITHALE & BHAKARI

After eating fish on Wednesday we wanted to have a simple dinner. So I made authentic traditional dishes like pithale and bhakri. It tastes awesome with onion and green chilli.

Pithale is a traditional dish of Maharashtra. Pithale taste awesome with bhakari only. Bhakri is made from jowar and bajra flour.

Toddler ate : Chapati with shreekhand.

FRIDAY : AMATI, JEERA RICE, METHI, ROTI, PAPAD and PICKLE

Because it's Friday and we were in relaxed mode. So able to make elaborate meal. I am trying to make this kind of whole meal once a week. Methichi bhaji is my favourite and papad are kids favourites. Dinner was amti which was made from sprouts, green leafy vegetables was methi, rice and chapati.

The toddler ate ghee rice and many papads.

I hope you all liked my simple yet healthy dinner and got inspired to have fresh home cooked meals. Many people ask me how I managed to cook and do everything. Here is my trick to have simple meal - not time consuming because I have my twin toddler who are constantly revolving around me in every 15 minutes 😇

Top 10 recipes of the year 2023

Festival Easy Menu for busy moms

Easy way to have eggs in your breakfast

Important points :

We never count calories from our meal. We didn't have that habit.

We both are healthy and not on any weight loss mission.

Wanted to  follow traditional eating habits which we had in our childhood and indulge everything mindfully.

Followed these so that our children should eat everything without counting any calories. My motto is children should learn to enjoy the food.

Question of the day

What is your favourite meal options? Do you repeat the same meal or cook different.

We basically have same like dal, rice or amti but side dish keep on changing, trying to make varieties of dal and amti. I don't like to eat same kind of food and not feeding to the family too.

CURRENTLY ( MARCH 2024)

How are you all? We are in the middle of March, the atmosphere is beautiful. In the morning you can feel cold air, in the afternoon you can feel very hot but as soon as the day turns to evening it will become cool again - Weather in my area, I am loving it. Is it the same in your area?

Recently I came across this survey on Pinterest "Currently"  I like this concept about recording your current (life moments) and honestly I found it fun.

I read almost 4 to 5 posts of other bloggers on Pinterest and love the ideas. I hope you all enjoy this post. And if you like to play along with it please comment down your current intrest like read, watch,  feel, etc in the comment section of this blog post. I would love to read it.

CURRENTLY......

Currently Living :

'Universal Law Of Attraction" do you believe it?

I believe it because it happened to me. Whatever I want (especially in my subconscious mind) I am getting that. No wonder it takes time but yes , the law of attraction works very well.

I always wanted to live in Mumbai. Though I was  born at Kalyan which is not far from Mumbai and from my childhood I dreamt of living in Mumbai. After getting married I shifted to Vikhroli. Dream comes true. Then, I wanted to live in the Township. I finally shifted to my dream destination where I wanted to settle with my family for my kids. It took almost 10 years.

Greatful to the Universe 🙏

PS : Pixel Lin2015

Universal Law Of Attraction worked. And currently we are in Mumbai - Mumbaikar 😎

Currently Day Dreaming :

Traveling with Mr. Hubby and Family. It's been almost four years since lockdown we didn't travel. With twins our travel adventures started 😉 and currently I am day dreaming of real travel - out of our state. I hope my dreams come true.

PS: pixel - Peggychoucair

Currently Watching :

K- Drama. I am a big fan of K drama. I started watching it in my postpartum period which was helping me to reduce my stress. Though I am not that much addicted and I took almost 2 months to finish one drama 😭 as per my time

But from last year I didn't believe myself I completed almost 5 to 6 K dramas in a line. Mr. Hubby is also surprised that I am not the one sitting infront of big screen . Guess what I also make him addicted to K dramas.😁

PS : Google

Currently I am watching My Holo Love on Netflix.

I am loving it. ❤️

Currently Reading:

Currently I am reading lots of blog posts especially foreign bloggers and our Indian bloggers too. Blogs such as, educational, travel, blogging related and  lots of fiction stories written by fellow bloggers. Some of them are my inspiration and I am in a learning process.

Apart from that I am currently reading the Harry Potter Series,  I started the second book in this series.

Currently Googling

Marathi Bloggers and Marathi blogging. I wonder how marathi blogging works. Many of my friends asked me why I don't write in marathi ? And my answer is , "I feel like I'm writing an essay.

But the real fact is that blogging is tough. I have been on this journey for 6 years and learnt everything by myself. I also love to write in Marathi but there are many difficulties. Figuring out how to solve it? Do people read it ? Many more queries. Currently googling Marathi blogging world.

Currently Indulging:

Ice creams, ice creams and lots of ice creams. Though I have to hide it from my twins but currently I am carving for more ice creams.😜

Currently Cooking:

Traditional marathi dishes like pithale bhakari, methi bhaji in marathi style, variety of dals in traditional marathi style, fish fry, and last but not the least dry Fish.

It's been so many days we didn't get fish here in Mumbai. Recently Mr. Hubby got it after so many searches. Blessed 😇

Cooking dry fish just the way my father loves to eat. The right amount of oil with the right amount of salt. Learning and learning and realizing why pappa insisted on oil. He always wanted to have the right amount of oil na jyda and na Kam. Currently I am in cooking mode in traditional ways.

Currently Smiling

On my twins giggles. They are in the language learning phase. The elder twin repeated every word we said. And the smaller one is trying to speak special words. Both are making us smile all day.

Currently Listening :

Mix of Bollywood and Hollywood old songs. I love to listen 90's songs. Though on my big screen currently BLACK PINK is trending for my kiddos. Whenever I go for walk I listen  90 songs... And some old songs.

Specific current list :

From this moment - Shania  Twain

RHTDM : Songs

Currently Avoiding:

Call from the toxic people. I choose peace over drama. I changed myself a lot because in the end nothing matters but your peace matters a lot. I am on this mode now " I don't want to ask anything and don't want any explanation. '

And so cutting such toxic people from my life even they are the near and dear ones. Avoiding all of them. Do you avoid such people or staying connected with them?

Question of the day

Pick up any currently and play along with it in the comment section. Like,

Currently Watching...

Currently Avoiding...

Currently Indulging.... Etc.

6 Things I Learnt As Twin Mom

6 Things I learned newly as twin mom compared to single kid mom

Motherhood is the blessing and NOT everyone can have this privilege. Whether you are new mom or second time mom or third time mom, everytime you get to learn something new because every pregnancy is different and so baby too. This time with twin babies I learned  lots of things newly. Twin baby is very difficult motherhood era for me due to nuclear family set up.

When you become second time mother you are more confident, right? You are NOT easily get panic when baby is crying. You know exactly what does your baby want ? Something like that happened to me too. I am pretty sure to handle everything by single handle - no - no - I am not alone, this time I have my 9 year old daughter and with her this twin motherhood journey was exciting and terrific. I am always grateful to the God for giving me my darling.

When my elder ONE born I was emotional for  everything like cleanliness, baby food, baby bath, baby emotions etc. As compared to that,  this time I am barely care. I keep them crying because I know the reason and if I can't get back in that time . So let it be for some time. 😑😊

Yes! Sometimes you have to be practical.

Things I learnt as a twin mom, that every mom should learn if possible. I can say this is the way you can enjoy your motherhood journey calmly. Yes. Calmly

It is quite difficult to be calm but with practice you can be a calm mom. Anger and irritation is the part of motherhood. I can't say we should avoid this. It is not at all possible. But we can minimise it. Because if we are happy then family is happy.

Sharing what I learnt and survive 😜

Swaddling /Comfort:

Your baby sleep well when you swaddle her or him properly. I had the experience, but this time I am so confident about it like the length of swaddling clothes, how to swaddle and how tight or loose you can swaddle and the most important how quickly you can swaddle the crying baby in a minute. My twins had 2 to 3 hour undisturbed sleep.

I swaddled them after bath,  in the afternoon and mostly at night. I used to give swaddle less time when they felt uncomfortable. Baby's comfort is the most important thing which helps them in sleeping.

Sleep schedule :

This is totally new to me. With my older one I never took any efforts to have strict sleep schedule because I didn't need that. You can say as a new mom I  never keep HER away from me. So I never understand the importance of sleep schedule.

I have been told from first day of my baby to have strict sleep schedule then only you can have REST!

And I mean it. So I literally wrote sleep time of my babies in my diary. Due to Instagram I am able to know the sleep pattern of babies. I STUDY that and it is helpful.  I try to follow the strict schedule and so my babies were no more cranky. They had full sleep. I had quite manageable time.

Now they are 15 months old and still we follow sleep schedule strictly. Current sleep schedule is after every 4 HR gap . Sleep May remain upto 2 HR and some time it stretches to 4 HR too with feeding.

Happy Me !

Connect to babies

This is new because I am able to connect with both of them. They are good observer and quick learner. I didn't teach them. They observe and follow. Talk, activity, songs, play are the part of connection. Babies love to connect with you. They eager to talk with you. They listen and understand. Yes, it is true. It is very important to take out time to set the connection. Because with twins daily schedule is quite hectic.

Tandem Breastfeeding  twin

When I was pregnant I was worried about feeding. How can I feed my both twins? I saw tons of video and try to educated myself.

I learned Tandem feeding where you can feed your twins at the same time. The day I reached home after my hospital session, very first time I tried Tandem Feeding and voila. I succed!  Only difficulty was to burp them . But slowly I learnt that.

When my friend saw this they feel surprised and sometimes pitty. But I am happy that I can breastfeed them and both are healthy fulfilled. (Touch wood)😊

Your gut than everyone's advise

During this period I always trust my gutt. Yes! Mumma. Your gut feeling is always accurate 90% rather than any parenting books. Do not act even according to advice given by the visitors. They always told you their experience. Everyone motherhood journey is different. So listen, learn but don't apply blindly. Trust your instincts and your knowledge.

Let them free from you

The more baby free from you more they learn to play independently. Try to give them floor time as much as possible. Being a twin mom it is very important to cuddle both of them. Cuddling, hugging and playing always together. They able to play more with each other.

Okay, let me confess,

Twin motherhood is the most difficult journey for me. I cried a lot. Feel guilty and most of the times feel depressed too.

But.

I reminded myself it was our decision. I was mentally prepared for this journey. And I was the most happiest person in my family when we came to know that we had twins.

Instead of that stress I concentrate -

💜 To flow with current direction.

💜 Time is temporary.

💜 Every day is new challenge and it will end soon.

💜 Tried to fill up every day with loads of love.

💜 Filled the home with lots of laughter, being connected with each other and every one work as a family.

💜 Last but not the least less bothered about how my house look like?

I kept my house baby friendly so my baby can move around the whole house and I don't need to check them on again and again. We put out all furniture in our balcony and make the room spacious.

Yes, it was difficult, for me and our family too. But the way these tiny human being watching me, depending on me, hug me and love me,  I forgot everything and charged automatically to be with them.

I believe I am the lucky ones and so always grateful to the Universe for giving me the opportunity of twin motherhood.

Comparatively I enjoyed this twin motherhood journey mindfully and this is the best phase of my life where I learnt lots of things which helps me to develop in a better human being.

Question for the day?

Do you take life challenge positively? Do you cry more or challenge your self?

Things I Am Loving Lately ( September Edition )

Have you noticed only 3 months left for the  year end.  I feel like just Ganeshotsav starts and now there are many more  festivals are on the way.... time flew so fast !

---------------

This post may contain affiliate link which I use and love ! ( more about privacy here

------------------

Grateful to the all good and bad moment for the entire 8 months of the year. The grief of my father, an emotional rollercoaster, getting up a new routine, changing life in many more ways and Love from the family I am getting.

Over the years I leared when you acknowledge the small things you can feel self love and radiatie the same love. I also learnt to  accept the things the way they are coming to me rather than indulging on my self expectations.

For 2 years I have been completely immersed in motherhood not having "My Life",  Like pregnancy and then postpartum I can't remember when was the last time I was ready with all make up and all (lipa poti )😆

This festival season I wanted to take care of myself first. Because  my daughter asked several questions like why you don't dress up like other moms? Why is your hair so messy?

Finally taking this on a serious note  I changed my wardrobe. I haven't wear a suit probably for the last 3 years. This time I have it in my wardrobe and now I am loving it.

Things I am loving lately September Edition:

Kurta Set from  the brand Klosia .

This one with Floral Prints and festive too.

And this black one too with dupatta. All these are on deal and below INR 1000 /

Because I realised I like to wear only cotton and comfortable clothes irrespective of the trend😆 Comfort is my new fashion. I had 3 sets and now wanted to stock up almost 5 colours. Are you a suit person or Western one ?

  The Date Syrup

As a toddler mom I have to cook variety of baby food and I don't use sugar for them. In the same way I am trying to minimise my sugar consumption too.

Earlier I used to make date syrup at home. But now with increasing task it is better to purchase store bought. I have been using this from last 3 months and I love it. It is natural sweetener with no added sugar. I am adding it in halwa, porridge, oats and to my Coffee too.

Coffee

Though I am a tea lover but constant nagging of Mr. Hubby I have decided to lower my tea / sugar intake. Generally I had 4 cups of tea ☕ in whole day - With snacks always. You know breastfeeding moms are hungry in every 2 hours. I want to get rid of this habit. So I am slowly switching to Coffee. ( I know this is also not healthy 😜)

One mug of coffee like the star bucks version at home and actually I am full . I didn't even drink 1 cup of tea at all.

I am loving it.

  Trolly suitcase Bag

I like it specially for light weight and 28 ltr capacity. It is laptop friendly too. We are currently not having any suitcase which fits our family clothes. Instead of keeping multiple bags I choose this one. I love it because we can piles up many clothes 😜

   Hair dryer

Washing hair and drying it is a major task on my to do list. You know with a toddler taking out time for a bath is difficult. And then drying hair is another task. Earlier I don't like to use hair dryer instead I like to dry up hair naturally under fan or in sun.

But life lately is full of chaos. Switching to this hair dryer make me less irritate. It is also helpful to dry up my daughter curly hair which took lots of time generally.

The Journey through the time ( 7 to 12 years age )

This is our new edition to my daughter shelf. She already read the series of Stilton. Now she wanted to more and more .

Currently it is her favourite book . And mine too. ☺️

And I am reading the Harry Potter Series and No drama Discipline.

PS : Pixabay.com

Gratitude List for the months of September:

Reading : Our reading is increasing . Our means my family, yes. I read aloud to my twins, my daughter is reading now her books apart from study and me trying to read at least 5 to 6 pages.

Writing a little bit on a daily basis for my blog. It keep me sane and happy.

Learning new skills from you tube tutorial regarding my blogging. I never took it seriously because I love to write from my heart and not from the SEO parameters. Still learning 😆

Dressing up,  Off course anyone love to dress up. But currently taking care to dress up properly. So that keep dress handy and ready in short organised way ,,,😜

Our new home : It is a blessing. I feel it is safe and full of positive vibes. My daughters are more happy and mostly we have giggles throughout the day.

Food : And off course having food on our plate. This is basic but having home made food is also a blessing. Bless that I am able to cook and have a healthy meal thrice a day.

Rakshabandhan : Anecdote

It has a special place in my heart. It is my favourite festival especially after my marriage. My Aai and my sister came two days before for this festival at my father's house and we had a blast.

With an endless night session including in deciding of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Aai always brings sweets of our choices specially Pappas favourite and we all gobble it very fast.

How do we celebrate ?

Sometimes we draw mehandi. Get up early in the morning with Pappas voice. He wakes up early and starts to wake up us early too. With his endless talk, ( kadhi uthnar, kadhi angholi karnar, lavakar utha ...n ..bla...bla..bla)

Means he insisted on getting up early and having a bath and getting ready for the day. Whereas we all were lazy and got up one by one up to 11: 30 - ready for the day.

Then we ate a tasty breakfast made by my Aai and began our celebration. We never saw muhurt for this because my father never believed in all this stuff.

He gets ready first always and we saw Bhai bahan ka pyaar. She is older than him and he still bends down to touch her feet. He never sat without a handkerchief on his head. He loves to have sweets which she bought. Malai Barfi was his favourite.

Then we all siblings followed the rituals. Photosession is always there. We spend at least 1 hour in photos especially family pics. When there was no social media we tend to eat sweets as much as possible and then have a special lunch.

My father always flows with time. He learnt social media too. He learnt how to take a selfie.

Father's feelings for the festival:

Rakshabandhan start with Pappa first. He was always waiting for this festival. Though he didn't speak too much with his sister, he loved her sister very much. She always bought shirt pieces and he always wears the same for next rakshabandhan.

(With hope next generation also follow the emotional bond.)

We have been watching them since my childhood and we learned a lot. We siblings had a fight and some tough moments too. But both my pappa and my Aatya taught us how to have an emotional bond with each other.

Today my father is no more. While writing this post my eyes are filled with tears. I missed him so much. First time in life I realised we are no more without our father. He was always there for us. He taught values, respect and most importantly how to love each other in spite of having differences of opinion.

Because

That is our family. Mummy, pappa and we 4 siblings including our base, pillar my Aatya and Tai. I wished her to have a long life and a healthy life.

It's been 3 months. But still I feel he is with us. Watching us and showering his blessings.

Today post is dedicated to my father and Aai. We missed you pappa.
