Lockdown kids fun activity # 2

Hey all,

As I promised to share new activity on alternate days, so here I  am with new exciting activity. I hope you all like our previous one with smilies and have a fun time with your little ones. those who do not know please check the link : http://memoryflies.blogspot.com/2020/04/kids-activity-during-quarantine.html

I am giving one by one so that our child does not get bored. This one is pretty simple. Take out a paper, sketch pen and wax or crayon or whatever you have handy.

This is a simple drawing.

There is no rule that you have to draw this only. You can draw anything like a kite, Bunny, Elephant as per your kid's choice.

Just ask the child to take the colour pencil or sketch pen. I will suggest having a sketch pen. Ask them to draw a pattern on each line with a different colour. After that ask them to fill the gaps with contrast colour.

The final product is like this. Lovely?

Some Do's:
# Take the same pattern and sit with your child.
# Show them if they are confused with the pattern.
# Have a competition " Who can make a beautiful pattern".
# Boost your kid's confidence even if they are doing some tiny mistake.

We took almost 30 to 45 minutes to finish with a small break. ๐Ÿ˜Š

What your child will learn?
Concentration,
Patience
Learn different patterns and colours.
Enhance their imagination.

Comment down with your fun pictures.

Till then,

Happy Parenting !!

Kids Activity During Quarantine

Hi, all,

I hope you all are safe inside your home and doing well during this quarantine. Our kids are precious ones because they listen to us without complaining, right.

I am telling my daughter that Corona is sitting at the entrance of our lift and hence we can not go out. she simply considers this and never demands to go out, the poor girl as she trusts her mumma. But we don't have an option. I wonder we can do this to the elder one who is still not sitting inside the house and roaming here and there without a mask. ๐Ÿ˜–

Anyway, that is not the topic of my post. There are lots of games and activities which are flooded everywhere. Are you done with that? I am doing this activity when my child gets bored with everything and finally, she wanted to do something new. I introduce this one at a time so that she can not get bored. You know Mumma, today's generation kids get bored very quickly and they want new things fast. Without realizing what is it, they tend to get bored you know what is the reason for this? Internet, yes, the digital world where everything moves so fast. So our kids are becoming impatient as they want everything fast as they saw on TV or on Youtube. They know they can switch the channel if they don't like any content and the same way they want to do with their lives too.

They get bored by reading, coloring, playing inside the home and bla, bla, bla, ๐Ÿ˜…, you know what I am saying. Keeping them busy during this quarantine is a bit difficult. Switching on TV, Playing with toys, drawing, TV, eating, jumping, again TV, this is the scenario of every home,

I am doing some brain booster activity from last one week and she is enjoying it. So wanted to share with you. I hope your little one will learn something new. This is not age-restricted actually, anyone can do it.

I will be sharing on alternate days. You have plenty of time. so please prepare this and sit with your kids and have fun. Do only one or two at a time when they get bored with everything. Trust me they will love it. These are only 10 to 20 minute depending on your child's interest. I keep it for a small interval because you have to develop patience in them too.

This is a sheet where I drew smiles from our keyboard which we are using on a daily basis.

Take a play dough and ask them to prepare the expression.

It will look like this. They will make their own facial expression like that and that is the best fun part of it.

Do this with your little one and comment me down below with your pictures. Ok, so get ready to have fun with us....!!!!

Do comment and share with your mommy friends.

Till then,

Happy Parenting !!

Reading with kids

Hi, there....

How are you readers? Hope you are doing well. Not able to post since last 3 months due to some reason....ahhh…. me not supposed to give out the reason but yes....I was not available.

Coming back with the most important topic is - How to make read to your child.

Yep, I got so many queries since my daughter read like a pro....mmmm…I  am not adoring her, but yes I got so many compliment and questions too. Anyway first of all thanks for the compliment and I am getting back with your query - how to develop a habit of reading.

Reading is not any rocket science that your child will learn in one night. For that you have to have lot of patience. I still remember when my child was 8 months old and I started to reading her. As usual my papa (father) who always said why you doing this so early? This is not an early sign to make her read but this is just the way I want to be with her. I love to read stories to her and she love to saw the big picture of the story book. Yep, the small baby love to watch pictures only. So I was reading to her since that age and still we read a lot, but the difference is now that she read the story book by herself and I am listening to her.

It is not a big task. Grab any story book as per the age of your child and sit beside him/her and read aloud. It doesn't matter whether he is able to read or not. Just start the process of reading daily with the fixed time - preferable bed time, this is the only way you can instill the reading habit to your child.

Once your child grow and ready for the preschool, slowly start with the alphabet recognition. Once child masters in it then start with the sound...yes...phonics sound. There are lot of debate now whether phonics needed or not? But according to me yes... it is very important that your child can recognize the sound of each alphabet. You can find coaching near by our area or on social media. Join the phonics you first and then teach your child.

Pics are from google

Now you will say we do not have a time....no issue, just check with the school syllabus and stick with it. There are lot of videos on phonics sound but that is not enough because phonic is very deep and I am here sharing with my experience. I am not any educational instructor of phonics, I am just a mom who is learning with her kid and happy to see that my child is reading like a pro, though we haven't finished our phonics yet!

Here are the simple tips which we follow:
  • Start to read story book as early as possible and use big picture book always.
  • Teach to recognize the sound of each alphabet.
  • Then start with the vowel sound
  • Start with the CV blend.
  • Read and teach your child sight word which are read by sight not by sound.
  • Do lot of activities with CVC blend word.
  • Gradually go with the school and follow the same study so that child will not get confused.
  • Do activities with three letter word.
  • Start reading with the small sentences.
  • Then gradually jump on the small para.
That's it guys, try this when your baby is small just around the age of preschooler and see the difference. You will get each and every activity on Google or else you can email me.

Happy Reading!!!

Sticker Activity

How many of you tired of listening …..Mumma, getting bored!”

๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜•
Tired of suggesting new indoor game, outdoor game but getting every time bored?

Well, we have to cope up with this phase. Our child tends to get bored because they are more interested in SCREEN TIME, That is the one thing where no brain is used. You have to seat at one place, watching TV or TAB or Mobile, without blinking an eyes and eating chips…yes or no?

But yes being a little bit creative and taking our child in confidence we can get out of this problem. There are lot of ideas available on Google, but yes for that you need to be creative and try to implement these ideas with their interest and not yours. Remember this.

Raise your patience…..mommy….!!! ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜… …how…? I am also learning.

Sticker is one of the most favorite items of each child. Even I like sticker so much, that whenever we go at any departmental store, I hop into the STICKER area to grab most of them as early as possible.

What shall we do with it?

Just do not put directly in your child’s hand. A little bit push to your brilliant mind and you can make more than 1000 of activity with this sticker. Here I am giving out some practical ideas which we enjoy while doing this. I wanted to share with you, so that you can keep your child engaged.

We are doing this activity since 2017, means from the age of three.

Image

·         ODD MAN OUT :

You can make a lot of odd man out activity using sticker. It will clear the concept of finding odd things which is not fitted in the given category.

For example: These are wild animals and child have to find out which one is not wild animal and that will be the odd man out.

·         MISSING LETTER OR NUMBERS :

Write the alphabet or numbers and keep some blank line. Ask your child to stick the missing letter or missing number from the sticker.

Again this is little bit crucial which enhance eye coordination. Your child needs to find from the sheet the exact missing letter. Sticker do not have the same sequence of ABCD or 1 to 10.

·         VEHICLES :

This is one of the best activities where you can teach your child kind of vehicles i.e. Land Vehicle, Water Vehicle and Air Vehicle.

Kids will also learn the spelling of the all Vehicles.

·         READ THE ANIMALS NAME AND PASTE IT :

This is very interesting activity for those early readers. Write the names of the animals on the sheet and ask them to read it.

They have to find the correct animal and have to paste it under the same name.

·         COUNTING ACTIVITY :

Yup this is one most common math’s activity. Write the number in one column and ask the child to paste the sticker as per the number.

Your kids will learn counting without a hustle.

·         WATER ANIMAL :

If you want to teach your child water animal name and how to easily identify them, then this will be the easiest activity. All you need is the water animal sticker which comes in bulk.

Write the name of the water animals and make a separate column. Ask your child to read the name by reading each spelling and ask to find out the same animal as many as he/she can and stick it in the column.

If he is ready ask him to count that how many crab, whale, or penguin he find and write the same number below the column. This is one kind of bar graphing. Counting with name and counting with the colour can make a graph. I will make a separate post how to teach the small kids regarding bar graphing in easy way.

·         WRITE THE INTIAL LETTER :

If you are getting tired by drawing the images on the worksheet then it is one of the time savers. Paste the different stickers and ask the child to paste the initial letter of that word under the same picture.

The kids will learn to identify different kind of picture with alphabet with numerous images.

·         LEFT AND RIGHT DIRECTION :

This is where our small kids get confused on finding the right and left direction. I drew the direction by drawing lines.

Ask to identify which vehicle going in that particular direction and then paste that vehicle sticker under the same direction. This one is the easiest game to teach direction.

·         WILD AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS :

I know we can teach them orally, but as they grow older they tend to get confused about wild and domestic animals. I prepared with two at a same time to make her little bit confused.

Try to give both animals at the same time ie. We got the sticker card which has mixed animals. So I just wrote the wild animals and domestic animals name and ask her to identify and stick according to the same group.

·         MATCH UP :

Here I used the same animals but with different colour. Child needs to look carefully and match the same animals.

It will increase the eye co-ordination.

There are many more but then the post will be lengthy. Be creative and be active. It will take only 5 minute to create this activity. So don’t say …..time nahi hain…!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Do you like sticker? How do you using it? Comment below.

Netflix : Best series for Kids

Love love love...….NETFLIX….!! How many of you like me, who always hang on Netflix. Yup, there is good web series for adults but yes I am hung up only on kids section.  There is good range of series available for Bachcha Party…!! Yes…you are right….there are so many movies and series for small kiddos which we adult too adore it. May be some of you know already….!

You will be laughing on me if I say, I am watching kids section ๐Ÿ˜„ but honestly I do love watch cartoons. Today I am sharing with you the most top rated series for bachcha party according to me….ahhh according to us!! Let’s jump in to the post...

Disclaimer: My daughter is 5 years old so we are watching as per her taste. All the series are under the age group of 3 to 5 years.

1.       WORD PARTY

This is one of the best series which WE love very much. If you want your child’s vocabulary should increase, do try to watch this with your little one.

The program is for 3 to 5 years old.   Four babies who are teaching different kinds of word and after learning each pattern of word, they have “WORD PARTY”. Yes, they are dancing and singing after learning each word. For Example – “Profession” – Painter, Teacher, scientist etc. They will teach this word with the sequence. You will love to watch.

This is LULU…..my favorite character. Child will also learn that there is some specific time to do some specific work like, during sleeping time you have to sleep, at snacks time you have to eat snacks and at playtime you have to play. During these activities, these four kids if not able to recognize particular word, and then “WORDWALLY” comes to help them.  They learn the whole new set of vocabulary.

I will strongly recommend this cartoon series for your small one which really helps to build up the vocabulary. Even you can show this cartoon below 3 years too.
2.       BARBIE – “LIFE IN THE DREAMHOUSE”

Who don’t love Barbie…? I still love them. It is not because of my daughter but yes as a girl I also have same feeling for Barbie which my daughter has. This is one of the best series, but they still not updated the new episode. We love to watch the same season 1, again and again.

The Barbie who lives in her dream house with her 3 sisters and KEN her boyfriend always helps her. There is one bad character “RACCQUEL” who always wanted to compete with Barbie, but Barbie’s good nature always win.

It tells the kids how to be good with others. Though it is doll, everything is automatic but yes it penetrated whatever is the situation be good with other, and always do good to others.

Do watch with your girl’s kid especially for fashion and accessories.๐Ÿ˜Ž

3.       PEPPA PIG

This is one of the best shows.  Almost every child who watch this, learn the Peppa Accent …yes or no mommy? Tell me in the comment section.  This is one of the shows where your children learn to speak a whole sentence with accurate grammar.

Peppa live with her family in small house. The way our children have daily life, the same way Peppa has….like…going to school, going to picnic, visit grandpa and granny , birth-day party, playground…etc. There is one narrator who narrates the situation.

These are the best series according to me which teach only good things. No magic, no hate, no fighting, no violence, nothing. It gives only good values and more over it increase your child’s vocabulary and particularly grammar. You can also watch if you want to learn to talk in English ๐Ÿ˜€
Do allow screen time during this vacation at least 1 hour by splitting in 30 minutes. Do try to watch TV with your kids. The best part of NETFLIX is they do not have advertisement during any series. Children love to watch it.

PS : All images from Netflix.com

Which is your favorite cartoon character? tell me in the comment section below.

Holi Activities for small kid

I am back with lots of Holi Activity. Holi is one of the biggest festivals celebrated everywhere and by everyone. I love our all festivals because it brings lot of joy and happiness. People gather to celebrate festivals of each religion and each cast which denotes the unity in diversity.

I am here to share with you some activities which you can do with your child to improve his studies.  All this activities are especially for the age group of 3 to 5 years.

Activities have following benefit:

1.  It gives joy to your child that his parents spending time with them.

2.  You can teach them about our culture and festivals.

3.  You can use any activity to increase his or her study interest.

4.   It helps to increase the concentration.

5. Activities help to improve bilateral coordination.

I am sharing some activity which we did for this month. I denoted these as a Holi Activity. I love to prepare variety of activity as per the festival or season. Check out the link here for valentine activity: https://www.memoryflies.com/2019/02/valentine-activities.html

#we prepare a banner of ‘HAPPY HOLI’ by using the scrap paper. I drew triangle shape and asked her to cut and write each alphabet on each triangle.  Cutting a paper along with line require eye and hand coordination.

Increase memory power while writing alphabet on each triangle so as to make the word “HAAPY HOLI”. Your kid will also learn new word “happy holi”

#Drew some rectangle and triangle shaped on this craft paper, ask her to cut it and make a ‘PICHAKARI’. She made it by herself by attaching each shape. Drew some extra bubbles. These improve the kid’s imagination power.

#I drew dotted line of this ‘HOLI BONFIRE’ then she joined all the dots and colour it.  Colouring is one of the favorite activities of each child. These require concentration for joining dots and colouring without spreading the colour.

Those child have concentration problem do use this kind of activity.

Tips :

*Never guide your child – do this, use this colour, draw like this etc. Just wait   and watch his creativity and appreciate him or her by saying “Wow…..so good”.

*Do not criticize him or her instead always encourage them.

*Always allow them to use the imagination power.

You can share the story of Bonfire if your child is more than 6 years old. Ahhh…๐Ÿ˜Š I did not share any story of “HOLI”as she is not yet ready to understand. Only explain the festival of holi celebrated by bonfire.

She asked why people played with holi? I simply replied, it is for fun. Festivals are used to celebrate for joy and happiness. That's it! I think we must have to share this thought with small kids.

#Exams time is there and so we did some word power activity using this Holi Theme. Let me show you some study related activities:

Word Families: My child gets confused with these words. I use this activity to improve her word power.

This is Holi (bonfire) with “U” word family. The game is to keep your “U” word picture card upside down and ask the child to identify the word on bonfire with the picture and write the initial letter.

#another one is with small pichakari “O” word family word. The game is same as above. Only difference is I drew some bubbles which are coming out from the pichakari.

Do try this at home. It will improve your child vocabulary, spelling power and memory power.

#opposite matchup: Children get bored with same match up so to make it more interesting I wrote this opposite word in bubble form and keep it plain. If child want to colour it, they can colour it and complete the match up. Finding the word from such word collage and join those with line actually have lots of fun. We both enjoyed a lot.

#Last one is the rhyming word. As simple as she can understand.

All these study activities sheets are available in PDF form with free of cost. You can use this sheet for different kind of activity.

Thank you for stopping by!

Valentine Activities

It’s been a long time I haven’t post any kid’s activity. Activity is the most important part which ensures the child interest towards the study. I do not like to force my child to study at home after a long day of school.  Instead of that we spend our time in activity. Child can learn easily through the activities instead of forcing him to read twice or thrice time. I saw many parents ask  LKG, UKG children to learn each and every spelling which is practically not possible. I am giving you some of the idea how the small activity helps the child to read and learn the words.

To all my viewers Marathi Bhasha Dinachya Hardik shubhechya.

February is the Valentine month. It is important to clear the concept to your child of every occasion. I am here sharing our valentine activities which we enjoy throughout the whole month. I used to do various activities according to the various days. Child come to know which are these day? Why these days are celebrated? What is the importance? Etc. Actually I do not believe to follow particular Day’s, but yes I like to have happiness by celebrating these days with my family.  These small days celebration gives you a lot of joy and happiness in your busy routine schedule, yes or No? Comment down please.

Today I am sharing 6 activities for the age group of 3 to 5 years. I always try to make the activities as simple as possible according to my daughter’s interest. Most important part for me she should enjoy doing all this.

1.       Craft: I love to take stamp of her hand since she was baby. Last year we prepared a Valentine Card for her father by using her hand stamp. I do this stamping almost every year.

This year we made tiny butterfly. My daughter do this by herself, I am only the guiding one. First we trace the hands image and then using ear buds we paint these small dots. I drew heart shape and then she cut it and pastes it on cardboard and made butterfly body. Then I gave a final finishing touch.

This activity improves the child’s imagination power.

2.       Simple chain of hearts: She is still not able to cut perfectly along the line so she asked me to have more heart shape. I drew small size heart shape on this scarp papers and then she cut and paste it on a big heart along the line.

This improves the concentration power as she has to paste it along the line.

3.       Cup Cake Word matching:  We are having now 4 letter words. I never ask her to learn the words by saying 5 times or 10 times ๐Ÿ˜Š.  I used to give her lot of activities with each word. These are simple 4 letter word which I wrote on heart shaped paper and on this big cupcake also. She needs to cut out the word with that heart shaped, have to find out on cup-cake and paste it on a right word. She also coloured the cupcake.

4.       Read, Find and Paste:  These are some 5 letter word which I wrote on her notebook. There are some used craft paper cut out on which I drew heart shaped and write the same word. Then she cut the heart shaped word.

She has to read each word from the book and find out the same word from collage and stick on this cardboard.

Ignore the shape of this big heart as it was drawn by my daughter. I know I can make it perfect but instead of that I always love to see the happiness in her eyes that she did it by herself. Perfection does not matter for me but yes happiness matter a lot.

The both activity improve the eye coordination skills of child. Finding the correct word from such collage and paste it, not only improves eye coordination but also boost the child’s memory.

Then we count how many red heart, yellow hearts, blue heart and write below. Again I asked her to read herself and write the number. This will give the question reading habits.

5.       Rhyming word search: This is the simple activity in which I drew the first image with name and wrote the word in heart shaped in which she has to find out the matching pair by reading each name and colour the matching heart.

6.       Colour by instruction: this is one of the simplest activity in which she have to see carefully, read the colour name and find out the shapes in heart and follows the instruction.

This is how we celebrate the whole month by doing lot of educational activity.

Yesterday was Marathi Bhasha Divas. She had a big celebration at her school. We did some Marathi Balgeet reading and Marathi stories too. Currently I am introducing some Marathi and Hindi alphabets to her. I will post that activity very soon.

Hope you like the post. Do share this post to all mommies to whom it might be helpful. Activities improve your mother child bond as we tend to spend more time with our kids and keep them away from mobile and T.V.

Check out my other post under the kids educational activity tab.
