Holi Activities for small kid

I am back with lots of Holi Activity. Holi is one of the biggest festivals celebrated everywhere and by everyone. I love our all festivals because it brings lot of joy and happiness. People gather to celebrate festivals of each religion and each cast which denotes the unity in diversity.

I am here to share with you some activities which you can do with your child to improve his studies.  All this activities are especially for the age group of 3 to 5 years.

Activities have following benefit:

1.  It gives joy to your child that his parents spending time with them.

2.  You can teach them about our culture and festivals.

3.  You can use any activity to increase his or her study interest.

4.   It helps to increase the concentration.

5. Activities help to improve bilateral coordination.

I am sharing some activity which we did for this month. I denoted these as a Holi Activity. I love to prepare variety of activity as per the festival or season. Check out the link here for valentine activity: https://www.memoryflies.com/2019/02/valentine-activities.html

#we prepare a banner of ‘HAPPY HOLI’ by using the scrap paper. I drew triangle shape and asked her to cut and write each alphabet on each triangle.  Cutting a paper along with line require eye and hand coordination.

Increase memory power while writing alphabet on each triangle so as to make the word “HAAPY HOLI”. Your kid will also learn new word “happy holi”

#Drew some rectangle and triangle shaped on this craft paper, ask her to cut it and make a ‘PICHAKARI’. She made it by herself by attaching each shape. Drew some extra bubbles. These improve the kid’s imagination power.

#I drew dotted line of this ‘HOLI BONFIRE’ then she joined all the dots and colour it.  Colouring is one of the favorite activities of each child. These require concentration for joining dots and colouring without spreading the colour.

Those child have concentration problem do use this kind of activity.

Tips :

*Never guide your child – do this, use this colour, draw like this etc. Just wait   and watch his creativity and appreciate him or her by saying “Wow…..so good”.

*Do not criticize him or her instead always encourage them.

*Always allow them to use the imagination power.

You can share the story of Bonfire if your child is more than 6 years old. Ahhh…😊 I did not share any story of “HOLI”as she is not yet ready to understand. Only explain the festival of holi celebrated by bonfire.

She asked why people played with holi? I simply replied, it is for fun. Festivals are used to celebrate for joy and happiness. That's it! I think we must have to share this thought with small kids.

#Exams time is there and so we did some word power activity using this Holi Theme. Let me show you some study related activities:

Word Families: My child gets confused with these words. I use this activity to improve her word power.

This is Holi (bonfire) with “U” word family. The game is to keep your “U” word picture card upside down and ask the child to identify the word on bonfire with the picture and write the initial letter.

#another one is with small pichakari “O” word family word. The game is same as above. Only difference is I drew some bubbles which are coming out from the pichakari.

Do try this at home. It will improve your child vocabulary, spelling power and memory power.

#opposite matchup: Children get bored with same match up so to make it more interesting I wrote this opposite word in bubble form and keep it plain. If child want to colour it, they can colour it and complete the match up. Finding the word from such word collage and join those with line actually have lots of fun. We both enjoyed a lot.

#Last one is the rhyming word. As simple as she can understand.

All these study activities sheets are available in PDF form with free of cost. You can use this sheet for different kind of activity.

Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Holi

Happy Holi to all my readers.

the famous festival celebrated all over India in the month of March- symbolized the start of the spring, end of winter, fun-filled festival of colour, freedom to enjoy, victory of good over evil.

Do burn your all evil deeds and thoughts on this Holika Dahan and start your life with new blessing and mindful. That is what the Holika Dahan teaches us. The historical story suggests the same thing - victory of good over evil. Teach your kids to be kind with everyone which is strongly needed in these days. You know where is our kids generation is going towards? Today’s generation are only self centric and self oriented. Do try to give your kids a good thought and teach them how to be good with everyone.

We always waiting for this festival to spray gulal and colour powder, to dance, to sing, to roam around in our colony, to throw colour filled balloon,  to mingle with coloured faces, to be a small child again, to forgive every evil things and everyone, to start happy fun filled relationship, aren’t  we?

Rituals are differing state by state but celebrations are unique. The unique thing which we love is throwing colour powder and having red, pink, purple faces. We women make toil and roaming throughout the colony, applying colour on cheeks and greet by saying “HAPPY HOLI”…….right 😉Who love this ? Comment down.

Let’s come to the main highlight of the Holi and that is “SWEET DELICACY”, the mouth watering sweets prepared by each house. Yes or no Momssss….? Depending on each state, culture and rituals there are different types of delicacy prepared.  In Maharashtra it is celebrated by making Puranpoli and Katachi Amti on Holika Dahan and on coloured holi we used to have spicy Mutton 😋.

In UP sweet dishes like Malpuva prepared whereas in Rajstahn Gujiyas are made with khoya or coconut stuffing. Some prepared sweet shakkarpara and Bhang. Thandai, the most popular HOLI staple which is made by readymade mixes, with cold milk flavoring with almonds and spices, yum..yum…!! Have you taste it?
Thandai
Without puranpoli Holi celebration is incomplete. But still want to try out Holi Recipe.
I tried sweet Malpuva, though my daughter does not like sweet at all except shankarpali. Still I want to try this new recipe. It is my version, as I like to keep it simple. I am very lazy person and don’t like to try complicated recipe.

Firstly dissolve the jaggary with water and cooled down this mixture.

Choopped dry fruits.  Add freshly coconut piece too. I did not have at the time of making.
I used natural Maida, my first step towards organic.
Then slowly add 1 cup of maida, 1 tablspoon of semolina, little bit saunf, cardamom powder, mix well. Add milk according to the consistency and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps.
Fry them on low to medium heat in oil one by one.
It tastes amazing when dipped in sugar syrup with Rabadi in authentic way.  I love it without syrup because I am also not having sweet tooth.

I made very small shape to make it kid friendly. Always trying a new recipe so that I can able to feed my kid as much as possible. Yup….but the sad thing is she does not like because it is sweet and having chunky bites of dry fruits😔, I think  need to try some spicy version. Do you have any ideas?

How many of you mumma’s try out new recipe for your kids? Does that hit or flop?

Annual Function 2019

Memory flies means the memories of my life which I want to documented and preserved forever. How many of you do this? I guess in today social media life everyone does, Right! Every parents love to take a picture of each milestone of their child. I am also following the same path. Today’s post is about annual function of my doll. Yes she is in UKG and performed this year too. But instead of featuring her performance I want to capture all these tiny stars on Memory Flies. I hope you will love to see all of them.

The school is not the international; it is Government registered convent school. The decoration is minimal and I like simplicity. All I want to record and capture this memory forever on my blog. I tried to take picture as good as possible. Let’s appreciate these small kiddos.

So come with me to the Annual Function of 2019.

Love this small ENTRANCE:
Sarswati Pujan:

“ YA KUNDESHU TUSHAR MA DHAWALA’….how many of you steel remember this? The prayer we used to have in our school. My whole childhood flashes in front of my eyes whenever I listened this prayer.
Flowers for the guest:

Love the roses
The DJ : without them the whole function cannot have a voice.

The whole function was for Pri-Primary Section. Nursury, LKG and UKG. Welcome song performed by the nursery kids.

I am surprised that such small kids can perform so well in front of the huge audience. Hatt’s off to the all schools teachers and trainers who encourage the children to perform on the stage.

I feel sorry for those parents who think school took a lot of money for the annual function and hence keep their child deprived from this. My suggestion to the parents, please encourage your child to participate each and every activity of the school which is very important for development of the self esteem of your child.

I really like the song selection especially for these little one. In fact the school is not following any theme. They are really picky with all Hollywood song on which each child even we parents are ready to tap.

Meet the upcoming host of the show. Hosting the function in front of the huge number of people is not anyone’s cup of tea. I have a big stage fear. But these two guys impressed me. They host every year and becoming perfect year by year. I tried to take the picture but it is not perfect. The hall is not like straight, it is circular and I am sitting at right corner of the first row and off course you are not allowed to get up from the seat to take any photographs. Though the picture is not perfect but I want to have this two guys here.

One of the social act performed by these small kids which is very touchy. It was ‘SAVE THE TREE’ & the performance was really tremendous.

This year UKG kid’s fathers have special appearance on stage. All Pappas (fathers) feel proud to dance with their girls. The dance is specially performed by the girl in which my doll also there. Do not have the picture with Pappas, as I was busy with recording the dance.

 My doll with his hero😘😍

Last but not the list: Medals. How many of you achieve the medals in your school days. Comment below, would like to see. As there were the long lists of meddlers which were not fit in my camera…😀

And the cheering audience
This is very little post, but have special place in my life and on my blog too. Do encourage your child to actively participate in each act. Do you want a review of the school? Let me know in the comment section.

What was your childhood best performance? Which one is still in your heart?

Valentine Activities

It’s been a long time I haven’t post any kid’s activity. Activity is the most important part which ensures the child interest towards the study. I do not like to force my child to study at home after a long day of school.  Instead of that we spend our time in activity. Child can learn easily through the activities instead of forcing him to read twice or thrice time. I saw many parents ask  LKG, UKG children to learn each and every spelling which is practically not possible. I am giving you some of the idea how the small activity helps the child to read and learn the words.

To all my viewers Marathi Bhasha Dinachya Hardik shubhechya.

February is the Valentine month. It is important to clear the concept to your child of every occasion. I am here sharing our valentine activities which we enjoy throughout the whole month. I used to do various activities according to the various days. Child come to know which are these day? Why these days are celebrated? What is the importance? Etc. Actually I do not believe to follow particular Day’s, but yes I like to have happiness by celebrating these days with my family.  These small days celebration gives you a lot of joy and happiness in your busy routine schedule, yes or No? Comment down please.

Today I am sharing 6 activities for the age group of 3 to 5 years. I always try to make the activities as simple as possible according to my daughter’s interest. Most important part for me she should enjoy doing all this.

1.       Craft: I love to take stamp of her hand since she was baby. Last year we prepared a Valentine Card for her father by using her hand stamp. I do this stamping almost every year.

This year we made tiny butterfly. My daughter do this by herself, I am only the guiding one. First we trace the hands image and then using ear buds we paint these small dots. I drew heart shape and then she cut it and pastes it on cardboard and made butterfly body. Then I gave a final finishing touch.

This activity improves the child’s imagination power.

2.       Simple chain of hearts: She is still not able to cut perfectly along the line so she asked me to have more heart shape. I drew small size heart shape on this scarp papers and then she cut and paste it on a big heart along the line.

This improves the concentration power as she has to paste it along the line.

3.       Cup Cake Word matching:  We are having now 4 letter words. I never ask her to learn the words by saying 5 times or 10 times 😊.  I used to give her lot of activities with each word. These are simple 4 letter word which I wrote on heart shaped paper and on this big cupcake also. She needs to cut out the word with that heart shaped, have to find out on cup-cake and paste it on a right word. She also coloured the cupcake.

4.       Read, Find and Paste:  These are some 5 letter word which I wrote on her notebook. There are some used craft paper cut out on which I drew heart shaped and write the same word. Then she cut the heart shaped word.

She has to read each word from the book and find out the same word from collage and stick on this cardboard.

Ignore the shape of this big heart as it was drawn by my daughter. I know I can make it perfect but instead of that I always love to see the happiness in her eyes that she did it by herself. Perfection does not matter for me but yes happiness matter a lot.

The both activity improve the eye coordination skills of child. Finding the correct word from such collage and paste it, not only improves eye coordination but also boost the child’s memory.

Then we count how many red heart, yellow hearts, blue heart and write below. Again I asked her to read herself and write the number. This will give the question reading habits.

5.       Rhyming word search: This is the simple activity in which I drew the first image with name and wrote the word in heart shaped in which she has to find out the matching pair by reading each name and colour the matching heart.

6.       Colour by instruction: this is one of the simplest activity in which she have to see carefully, read the colour name and find out the shapes in heart and follows the instruction.

This is how we celebrate the whole month by doing lot of educational activity.

Yesterday was Marathi Bhasha Divas. She had a big celebration at her school. We did some Marathi Balgeet reading and Marathi stories too. Currently I am introducing some Marathi and Hindi alphabets to her. I will post that activity very soon.

Hope you like the post. Do share this post to all mommies to whom it might be helpful. Activities improve your mother child bond as we tend to spend more time with our kids and keep them away from mobile and T.V.

Check out my other post under the kids educational activity tab.
